Family law, including custody disputes, divorce, guardianship, adoption, and child support issues are often highly emotional and require a steady hand to navigate the process. Every case is unique and your representation should be based on the needs of your case and your family. Our attorneys have years of experience in all areas of family law and are ready to help. Below are just a few issues that can make a difficult time a maddening maze.

Complex Estate Divorce

Do you own a business? Does your spouse own a business? Do you have a family trust, or inheritance? Do you think you have a maintenance claim or that your spouse may have a maintenance claim? When it’s time for you to move forward we can help identify issues and complications and help you maximize your outcomes.

Military Retirement Issues

Military Retirement has changed recently, and can change quickly. Our attorneys stay up to date with the latest regarding SBP coverage, TSP issues, and general military retirement issues.

Custody & Paternity

Custody cases are often more complicated than they appear and communication can be hard enough without having to wade through child support calculations. Online Form 14 calculators can give you an idea of what support could be but they don’t include the nuance of the process and may leave you with too low, or too high, of a payment. Our attorneys can assist you in reaching your goals for a parenting schedule to fit your child’s best interests, whether through settlement negotiation or trial. Just because there is an agreement today, if there is no Judgment or Parenting Plan then there is no guarantee that the agreement will last tomorrow.

Modification & Relocation

Parents need to move for work, for school, and other reasons. Military families have a particular need for relocations or changes with TDY and PCS orders that may come with little warning.

Missouri has specific requirements about relocating children and even the most well meaning of parents can run afoul of the law in relocation cases. Failure to comply with the law in a relocation case can have significant consequences including change of custody, support change and abatement, and even costs for attorney’s fees you could be ordered to pay to the other party.

Sometimes life changes or behaviors change, and even without a relocation a past custody plan or support order might need to be modified. Big job promotions by a former spouse, disciplinary issues, school attendance and performance, can all be a reason to reexamine your current parenting plan to see if it is in need of modification.
